Manu Tandon, MBA, MPA, is Chief Information Officer at Beth Israel Lahey Health and a faculty member in the Division of Clinical Informatics at BIDMC. He implemented a highly effective IT Governance and Project Management model and enhanced the BIDMC internally developed Electronic Health Record system. He has played a vital role in bringing the medical center to the forefront of IT innovation. His team developed the first BIDMC mobile app store, delivering several mobile applications to improve the value and experience of providers and patients. His team also developed the first machine learning solution at BIDMC for operational efficiency, the first ambient sound application, and the first patient locator service. He has mentored students from MIT’s Operational Research Center that work with BIDMC’s Center for IT Exploration (CITEx). He has regularly been invited to speak at Harvard Medical School and Boston University executive education sessions. His work at BIDMC established the first hybrid cloud model at BIDMC, a substantial project that includes migrating seven petabytes of data to Amazon Web Services (AWS). He also currently serves as the Executive Director of the Health Technology Exploration Center (HTEC) at BILH, which works to adopt innovative analytics, mobile, cloud, and AI/ML solutions to achieve operational efficiencies and enhance the experience of providers, patients, and staff. The Center has taken an active role in rapidly introducing innovative IT solutions to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
